The beach is quieter than March–April, so instructors can give more individual attention. Lessons almost never get cancelled in January.
Yes — January is significantly quieter than February–April. Many kite tourists time their trip to March or April for peak wind, which means January offers a more relaxed experience with easier lesson bookings and more space on the water. If you want a premium learning environment without the peak-season rush, January is ideal.
January: 12–18 kts (SE season opening). February: 14–20 kts. March: 15–22 kts (peak). April: 14–20 kts (tapering). June–October: SW season (10–22 kts variable at Thong Sala). October–November: off-season. January is the most beginner-friendly month — lighter, controllable wind.
January is dry, warm, and sunny. Air temperature is 28–30°C, water temperature is 27°C. There is very little rainfall — January is one of the driest months of the year on the island. The trade wind blows across the lagoon keeping the air fresh. Ideal conditions for spending all day on the water.
